Spelling geniuses
Cymotrichous. Yes this is a real word. The word that won a 14 year old girl the scripps spelling bee that I happened to stumble upon this past week. (It was on ESPN by the way which I sort of find ironic....I just wonder how many men were outraged) All I know is I've never felt so dumb and believe me, I've had many moments in my life to feel dumb. For example, I have mysteriously made ceiling fans fall out of the ceiling with just one whip of the bed sheet. I realize that might sound a little scandalous but I promise I was just making the bed. I have pulled entire guttering off of my house while trying to fix it on an 8 foot ladder (if you're wondering if I fell off the ladder you would be correct) Before my pioneer woman cookbook, I made cinnamon rolls and forgot to put the cinnamon in them. SO, I think that describes how ridiculous I can be, however some how the scripps spelling bee topped them all. There's just something about an 8 year old that can spell omphaloskepsis that is concerning to me. Or maybe its the 10 year old that can spell a 45 letter word, I REPEAT 45 letter word, backwards that makes me feel like I should go back to college. Either way I was still heartbroken every time one of these little geniuses missed their word and took the walk of shame back to sit with their parents. Bottom line, I was in my 4th grade spelling bee and was thrilled when I got to the next round on the word "magazine" and "vegetable", need I say more.

Its the Little things......
So Im not THAT old, however the older I get the more I realize that its the little things in life that are meaningful and have more purpose. For instance, if I had the energy and time I would love to get up at 6:30 in the morning, sip on a cup of coffee, make a delectable breakfast, and read a nice book just to see the sunrise. (That is also considering that I would get a nap later on that afternoon) I would not want to be rushed like I am every other morning, but just have a relaxing morning to get up and watch God's creation at work. I WOULD LOVE IT! I have done it...... very rarely, but when I do I feel so peaceful and it just starts my day off marvelously. Other little things that matter to me:
1. I like a good cup of coffee from my Keurig and a sweet treat (doesn't really matter what it is, but I prefer home made cinnamon rolls, or a nice piece of honey wheat toast with a good strawberry jam, I don't know why with the jam, I just appreciate a good jam!)
2. I get excited when I find a cute top or a pair of shoes I had forgotten about because you feel like you got something brand new that you already had!
3. I like a good orange......yes an orange! They are the hardest and most time consuming fruit to peel and eat so if I spend the time peeling it, it better be good. And no seeds, I hate seeds
4. Meaningful conversations with friends, its just good for the soul :)
5. Green lights! I am a terrible driver and I get mad every time I hit a red light, even though I know its inevitable that I will come across red lights I still get frustrated.
6. Finding crafty things I would never be creative to come up with on my own
7. NAPS! Need I say more, they are glorious and I love them
8. Hot tea and spiritual conversations with my grandmother....She always know what to say and she makes great tea. Everything is better when she makes it.
9. My husband texting me something sweet and thoughtful, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy
10. Watching Winchester, I don't really care what he's doing because I like watching him do everything
11. Shopping with my mom, and conversations with her when I've just gotten into bed.....makes me feel like a kid again
12. Hot showers and cold sheets! I take hot showers before bed and get into cold sheets (that is if Winchester is not in my spot) and I sleep like a baby
13. Looking at pictures. Mine or other people's it doesn't matter I just love them, especially if they're black and white
14. Getting my hair cut, eye brows waxed and nails painted. Can I get an AMEN from the ladies!
15. lip gloss. I officially have 21 different kinds of lip gloss in my purse which my husband kindly pointed out. A little extravagant but so worth it
16. Over all family time and games that don't involve a playstation or xbox
17. Maybe a little to much info but......Metamucil is my best friend
18. The farmers market, I love going to the farmers market because its so refreshing and lovely
19. Antiquing... I love the history of old furniture and imagining where it was and what I can do with it
20. Date nights and quiet times!
Ill go ahead and stop there although I could go to 100 things! But these are just a few of the little things that make me grateful for the life that God gave me. I realize to some people around the world some of these things are excessive, ridiculous, and exuberant which just make them more meaningful to me. Thank God for the little things, as well as the big.....He's there all the time and wants us to take time to notice the little things.

My ridiculous obsession with reality tv shows!
Now that life has slowed down a bit, thank goodness Im back on my blog! Oh how I've missed it!
Today I realized something quite ridiculous and almost embarrassing, but not enough to keep me from continuing on with my story. So I've always loved reality television, not the "Real World" type of reality or the "Bachelor/Bachelorette" reality.....the good stuff on TLC and Bravo :) For instance I love The Cake Boss! I love cakes and I love Italians. I know his wife's name and all four of his children, and I often talk about them as if I know them personally. Me: "Ya Lisa looks great after having four kids", my husband: who is Lisa?" (Lisa is Buddy's wife and Buddy is the cake boss, duh.) I don't know why but I'm addicted and it's very sad. I actually asked my husband if one day we could go to Hoboken, New Jersey to visit Carlos Bakery and see Buddy and the gang. Yes I did in fact say, Buddy and the gang. I also enjoy Say Yes To the Dress, What Not To Wear (Stacy and Clinton are fashion geniuses), Police Women of Broward County, Housewives of whatever county is currently on, and Pregnant in Heels. (I promise I'm not a tv junky) The sad part is I could see myself enjoying doing every one of these things! I even dream about it sometimes. I love to bake and eat cakes, I love weddings and helping people get ready for their big day, I absolutely love fashion, I don't think I would be a good police women but I might be able to carry off the uniform, and I'm not pregnant but I love heels (Rosie Pope you are genius!) So anyway I guess Im saying that I would be happy to do anyone of those things but I'm more happy that God made me who I am and I am here to do something just as special as Buddy, Rosie, Stacy, and Clinton.

Sometimes ya just have those days!!!
This is the conversation I had with my husband yesterday, after numerous frustrating events that occurred over the last week and countless stressful situations. All I have to say is "He's a trooper"!
Me, as my hubs is walking through the door: "I just want you to be fore warned that I have a bad attitude and I'm in a horrifically bad mood and I've already talked to God about it"
Him: "Why?" ( why are you in the bad mood, not why have you talked to God about it :)
Me: Just everything!
Him: Well, when are you going to be back?
Me: I really don't know.....
Him: OK then
Today is much better, and I'm back by the way!

Gracie Noel
Well, today started out great but went downhill quickly. Woke up, made a fabulous new recipe for breakfast (which I will post soon), started my wonderful new blog, and then........our sweet Gracie, our amazing family dog we have had for almost 13 years, had to be put down. I have to say it is to date the worst experience I have had to witness in my 25 years. She was vibrant, loyal, loving, and always there when you needed an ear to talk to or needed something fuzzy to snuggle with. Between myself and my 3 brothers, Im sure we shared our deepest secrets and feelings with her just because she was always there and she never judged. I never knew animals could bring such comfort, love, loyalty, and happiness into the lives of everyone around them. Gracie Noel you were and still loved and will be greatly missed.
WELCOME!!!
Welcome to my blog! I decided to start a blog just yesterday actually, to give me a creative outlet and to let people see that ordinary can be quite extraordinary. I also started this blog because my life is very real and at times can be so interesting. Therefore I feel like I should have my own reality tv show. However, since I'm not 16 and pregnant, I don't really feel like living on a deserted island for 30 days, and my "real world" doesn't consist of crazy drunken nights in a big city, my dreams of having my own reality show are not very realistic. So hopefully you enjoy my real world and day to day life as I banter on about everything I love....and sometimes don't love!
